MBBS Abroad Eligibility Criteria

A complete, up-to-date guide on eligibility requirements for studying MBBS abroad β€” NEET, PCB marks, age, documents, and country-specific criteria.

Basic Eligibility

The eligibility criteria for MBBS abroad as set by India's National Medical Commission (NMC) are standard across all countries. Here are the key requirements:

  • βœ“
    NEET Qualification (Mandatory since 2018)

All Indian students must qualify NEET to study MBBS abroad. There is no minimum cutoff for foreign universities β€” a qualifying NEET score (50% General / 40% SC/ST) is sufficient.

  • βœ“
    Class 12 with PCB β€” Minimum 50%

Must have passed 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as core subjects with minimum 50% aggregate in PCB (40% for SC/ST/OBC).

  • βœ“
    Age Requirement: 17–25 Years

Must be at least 17 years of age on or before 31st December of the admission year. Upper age limit may vary for certain countries (typically 25).

  • βœ“
    Valid Indian Passport

A valid passport is mandatory for student visa application. Apply for passport at least 2 months before intended departure.

  • βœ“
    No Criminal Record

A clean background is required for student visa processing. Most embassies require a Police Clearance Certificate (PCC).

  • βœ“
    Medical Fitness Certificate

Some countries require a medical fitness certificate from a registered medical practitioner confirming you are fit to study.
